THE PALACE BUILT BY AMIR TEMUR

THE PALACE BUILT BY AMIR TEMUR
Foretelling the power of a great nation,
You rise proudly, O Aq Saray.
A monument built by my ancestor Amir Temur—
There is no palace greater than you in the world.
They say beauty is the rival of a lovely maiden,
Both good and bad gaze upon it in wonder.
The charm and splendor within you
Have shattered the hearts of enemies.
Your domes are azure, your cupolas golden,
Shining like a torch, a beacon, a palace.
Your tiles are gold and lapis gems,
Every corner a city, everywhere a palace.
Caravan follows caravan along the road,
Time itself walked in Amir Temur’s path.
Like the great Sahibqiran, a builder and guide,
He founded the school of Temurbeks in the land.
Amir Temur returns once more to the palace,
The great ruler stands asking of his land.
Ambassadors and nations come to honor him,
In descendants’ hearts live pride and glory.
In sorrow and joy, faithfully with the people,
You are a crown of ages, O Aq Saray.
You lift hearts like mountains, souls like the sky—
This homeland, these people, this sacred soil-palace!
Still foretelling the power of the people,
You stand tall and proud, O Aq Saray.
A monument that made justice its (principle),
There is no palace greater than you in the world.
